During the Eurovision contest which was held on Saturday evening, Europe voted overwhelmingly for the Ukrainian group Kalush Orchestra and its song “Stefania”. France tumbles this year to the penultimate place of the competition.

This Saturday evening, the contest Eurovision 2022 was held in Turin, after Måneskin’s stunning victory last year. It’s the Ukrainian group Kalush Orchestra who succeeds them, symbolic victory as war rages in their country, invaded by Russia. On the French side, it’s a bad score since the Breton anthem Fulenn did not touch the hearts of Europeans, with a penultimate place in the ranking.

The group Kalush Orchestra, mingled in his song Stefaniaof the traditional ukrainian music at some rap and hip hop. Its six members received special permission to leave Ukrainian territory, which is currently at war. Ukraine was one of the favorites of bookmakers in recent weeks, especially because of the news. “I will always find the way home even if all the roads are destroyeds”, evokes the Ukrainian title, words that may have touched European voters.

The victory was narrowly played with the representative of the United Kingdom, Sam Ryder, star of Tik Tok, who managed the feat of bringing his country out of the bottom of the table, where it had stagnated for a few years. Unfortunately, France took this place this year since the Breton quartet of Alvan & Ahez only won 17 dots, public and jury alike. A major change, as Barbara Pravi’s song finished in second place in 2021. The question of where theEurovision 2023 arises after this Ukrainian victory. Oleh Psiuk, singer of the group, hopes by then “a new, integrated, developed and flourishing Ukraine“.
