In the 26th adventure of the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), the powerful superheroes have to face the Deviants again after several hundred years. Although they manage to win the fight in “Eternals”, they suffer heavy losses: In addition to the deaths of Ajak (Salma Hayek) and Gilgamesh (Ma Dong-seok), they also have to deal with Ikaris’ (Richard Madden) betrayal and the real reason process their existence.

So the remaining Eternals definitely deserved a break, but the final scene of the film shows that it won’t come to that, because in the end they have to answer the Celestial Arishem’s questions. So your story is far from over…

In an interview, Gemma Chan and Richard Madden reveal which MCU heroes they would like to be in front of the camera with:

Marvel’s ETERNALS: Does Superman Exist in the MCU?

“Eternals 2”: Start still uncertain

Anyone who is already hoping for a second part and would like to know how things will continue after the finale and the two mid- and post-credit scenes will be disappointed at this point. is current “Eternals 2” not planned. Im Interview mit Toronto Sun revealed producer Nate Moore that a sequel may not necessarily come:

“It’s not something that absolutely has to happen. Of course we have ideas of where we could go, but there is no hard and fast rule that the three of us [dieser Filme] need to have.”

So a second part is not automatically given, if you take a look at the first reviews of the film, the future of the sequel doesn’t look exactly rosy. Based on the early voices, Eternals is the MCU’s worst movie yet. If Marvel actually decides against a second part, that doesn’t mean the end for Sersi (Gemma Chan) and Co.

So the Eternals could return

Anyone who stayed in the cinema for both credits scenes will already be able to imagine that the adventures of the immortal beings are far from over. While viewers can expect a new journey led by Thanos’ brother Eros aka Starfox (Harry Styles), it’s yet to be seen whether Dane (Kit Harington) truly accepts his fate and becomes the Black Knight. One can imagine that Marvel will continue the two storylines, but the question is in what form they will be continued…

The big MCU surprise: Harry Styles plays Eros aka Starfox:

Is the next MCU series imminent?

Those who are familiar with the Marvel comics were already pricked up at the name Dane Whitman, at the latest when the character looks at the Ebony Blade, they knew that the future Black Knight was standing in front of them. It remains to be seen whether Dane and Sersi will meet again for the time being, but his story could also be continued outside of the MCU film – in a series.

Dane himself explains to Sersi that he has a complicated family history. However, he left out the fact that his family has owned a cursed sword enchanted by Merlin for generations. His journey from Sersi’s nondescript partner to the new Black Knight could perfectly suit Marvel into a series. Here viewers should then learn everything about the background of the Ebony Blade and experience how Dane becomes a real warrior who could go back into the film universe after one season to find Sersi.

Will there be a Celestial movie instead of Eternals 2?

The next big task for Makkari (Lauren Ridloff), Thena (Angelina Jolie) and Druig (Barry Keoghan) will be to rescue her family from the clutches of Celestial Arishem. They get help from Eros, who seems to know where the others are. A fight against the mighty Celestial could mean that the audience will learn more about the beings.

After initial information about the Celestials in the direct predecessor, MCU fans were able to get to know a genuine representative of the powerful beings in “Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2”. With Arishem, a specimen has now been introduced that is even stronger than Ego (Kurt Russell). However, there is still little left Arishem the judge and its species known. Marvel may refrain from making a second “Eternals” film and instead focus on the Celestials. Continuing the story from Arishem’s point of view could give the plot a new twist and would give the viewer more information about the Celestials, which are believed to have existed for billions of years.

Since Eros has a connection to Arishem, the new narrative would also be a chance to introduce Thanos’ brother in flashbacks. Possibly the Eternal also dupes Makkari and Co. and works on behalf of the Celestial. He may seem different from his brother, but it may take some time before his intentions are really clear.
