Panic! At The Disco are breaking up

They have been rocking the stages of this world for almost 20 years. Two of their seven studio albums go to number one in the USA. And there are also various prizes – from the MTV Award to the Grammy – on their shelves. But that’s over now: Panic! At The Disco disband.

Panic! At The Disco have announced the impending demise of the band. Lead singer Brendon Urie released the bad news to fans in a lengthy Instagram statement. “Growing up in Vegas, I could never have imagined where this life would take me,” the US band’s frontman begins his message. “All the many places around the world and all the friends we’ve made along the way.”

But sometimes a journey has to end so that a new one can begin, says the singer. “We tried to keep it to ourselves, although some of you may have heard about it. Sarah and I are expecting a baby very soon!” explains the musician. “The prospect of becoming a father and seeing my wife become a mother is (…) very exciting. I look forward to this next adventure.”

For him, this means that he will “finalize this chapter of my life” and direct his focus and energy to his family. “With that, Panic! At The Disco will no longer exist,” the 35-year-old finally puts it in a nutshell.

established in 2004

He would like to thank you for the great support over the years, writes Brendon Urie. “I’ve sat here trying to find the perfect way to say this and I really can’t put into words how much it meant to us.” It was a pleasure for the band “to share not only the stage with so many talented people but also our time with you. I look forward to seeing everyone in Europe and the UK on one last journey together.”

Panic! At The Disco was formed in 2004 by school friends Ryan Ross and Spencer Smith, later joined by Brendon Urie and Brent Wilson. The line-up has changed frequently since then, with Urie being the only remaining original member.
