Remembering that his most recent role was as Patrizia Reggiani, in the biopic’Gucci house‘, directed by Ridley Scott (‘Blade Runner’).

At a recent press conference attended by the CinePOP, the star commented on her process of incarnating Reggiani in the drama, for which his performance was extremely acclaimed by the experts.

The actress and singer commented in other interviews that she didn’t want anyone to tell her about it. Patrizia and her personality, deciding to investigate how she behaved and find out for herself how he would take her to the big screen.

“You know, I spent a lot of time reading about her, watching interviews she gave, watching interviews about her, too, but I tried not to read too much or watch too much that would establish an opinion of her.”, she revealed. “Because I really wanted to create my own [opinião]. I focused on who she was and why that happened for a long time, but I felt it was significant and important to ensure that I was a journalist of sorts when approaching the role, for being a real person. And a person who, in several of his interviews, lies all the time.”

Gaga continues: “I wanted to be able to decipher for myself how she behaves when she lies, how she behaves when she is not lying… And who was the real woman, Patrizia Reggiani, before she got married, before she killed him. there is less [coisas] about her, she was younger, so I wanted to build her childhood and I believe she was a real woman who fell in love, and I believe she not only loved Maurizio, she loved what he meant and how he empowered her within the company’s business. family. And when that was taken away from her, I think she acted differently than most women – most of them don’t order their husbands to be murdered. And, in the same way, I believe in a system, in a kind of systemic oppression that she faced. That happened because she was just hurt.”

From the trailers, it is remarkable how the narrative, adapted from the homonymous novel by Sarah Gay Forden, is centered on the complex dynamic between Patrizia and Maurizio, whose story of love and trust turned into a tragedy that marked contemporary history. More than that, Gaga’s characterization transmutes from a woman with many dreams to someone who watched helplessly as the reality she was used to dismantling at once.

The artist has always carried the elements of performance art to live each of the characters she played, whether in the world of music or cinema. For ‘Gucci house’, Gaga resorted to a somewhat unexpected method – and was inspired by felines to provide Patrizia with maximum emotion and credibility.

“I really wanted to make sure next to [da figurinista] Janty [Yates], who is amazing, who made all the clothes for the movie, that Patrizia never looked as shiny as the Guccis and I never wanted fashion to speak. And in terms of the physicality of acting, I actually drew on three animals that I was working with: early in life [de Patrizia], I was a cat, a domestic cat; in the middle of the movie, in the second act, I was a fox, so I studied the way foxes hunt, and they are very playful when they do; and then I studied panthers to the end. For the third act of the movie, she becomes this huge feline. I watched several videos about the way panthers hunt and they are seductive when they do, they seduce and then attack. I’m sure everyone knows there’s a big difference between the three animals, so I used it to figure out the physicality of the character.”

Over the course of production, Patrizia matures. She meets Maurizio at just 22 years of age and remains in the life of the Gucci heir until nearly fifty years old. Gaga also commented that playing her in a chronology that spanned thirty years was challenging and that her entire process acted as a science lab.

“I would say that playing someone that the movie unravels in thirty years… First of all, me playing someone who is 22, 25 years old is ridiculous, (laughs) but thank you, Ridley [Scott, diretor], for believing in me that way… But it was a challenge. The trailer where I prepared every day was like a science lab.”

She continues: “we had continuity shots that were in scene order, so we’d know how I was at any given moment; there were fifteen wigs inside, which were real replicas of the way [Patrizia] she wore her hair at specific times in her life, which we can find in photographs; [as perucas] were specific to the time, even the chemicals we used to dye them were specific. Everything we did was pretty accurate. In the morning, I could be shooting a scene where she was in her late 30s or early 40s, and then right after that I had to do a scene where she was 25.”

As for the rest of the cast and the technical and creative team that accompanied her on this journey, Gaga did not spare praise and commented that everything worked so well because everyone was organized and ready for any task to be accomplished:

“We went back and forth, but because we were well organized, we were always ready. This is what my director deserved, what my peers deserved. I always wanted to be on time on set and I also always wanted to be ready to be a certain version of Patrizia in that scene. I have to say that everyone, I believe, did this job and I can’t say enough wonderful things about my cast. It was an immense pleasure to work with Adam every day, it was an immense pleasure to work with each of the actors, because everyone cared and everyone wanted everything to be the best it could be.”

Ridley Scott (‘The Martian’) joins as director.
