Ellen Pompeo quits ‘Grey’s white world’ after 17 years

After 17 years as Meredith Grey, it’s time to say goodbye.

Ellen Pompeo quits ‘Grey’s white world’ after the upcoming season.

In a longer post on the social media Instagram, she says a nice goodbye and thanks the many fans who have followed her career in the series.

‘I am so grateful and humbled by all the love and support you have shown me, Meredith Grey, and the show over the past 19 seasons. I just want to say that none of it would have been possible without the best fans in the world. You are all on the journey and you have made this journey so fun and iconic.’

The many reactions from fans already started pouring in last week, when a trailer for the upcoming season showed Ellen Pompeo’s character saying goodbye to Seattle to start a new life in Boston.

‘I love you all and I appreciate you. This is not the first time you have been through this. You know the show must go on. And I’m coming back to visit,’ reads the post.

Ellen Pompeo has starred in the series since it started in 2005, appearing in over 400 episodes.

In 2021, the actress said she wanted a smaller role in the series because she wanted to explore other projects outside of ‘Grey’s white world’.
