The day after the announcement of Christopher Nkunku’s injury package for the 2022 World Cup, Randal Kolo Muani was summoned by Didier Deschamps. He is going to join the France team in Qatar.

While the French delegation will fly to Doha in the next few hours to join its base camp less than a week before the entry into the running of the Blues against Australia in this 2022 World Cup, the national coach was forced to make an additional choice. Following Christopher Nkunku’s sprained knee, and the Leipzig striker’s withdrawal, and as authorized by FIFA regulations, Didier Deschamps called in a striker to replace him. And this last-minute draft is Randal Kolo Muani, the former FC Nantes striker, who joined Frankfurt last summer. Aged 23, Kolo Muani has been selected twice, it was against Austria and Denmark this fall and he will therefore join the group of 26 French players for the World Cup in Qatar on Thursday.
