Drama in Solre-sur-Sambre: an 18-year-old deaf and mute teenager dies hit by a train

The drama took place in the middle of the afternoon, a little before 3 p.m., at the Solre-sur-Sambre station. An 18-year-old boy from Marchienne-au-Pont had come to visit a friend from Erquelinnes. He had stayed there and was preparing to take the train home this Thursday.

These teenagers, both deaf and mute, were at the station. They had gone to get a ticket from the machine. It was on the way back that the tragedy happened. The accident left no chance for the young man, who died on the spot. His best friend, who witnessed the scene, saw the drama happen. He tried to warn her of the danger with gestures. In vain… The young victim unfortunately died on the spot.

His best friend was not physically injured. But, he was in shock after witnessing this disaster.
