A serious traffic accident occurred this Wednesday morning, shortly before eight o’clock, in Saint-Gilles-Waes, in Flanders. According to information from Belang van Limburg, a van hit the back of a truck, which was stationary. A father and his two children, who were in the van on their way to school, were seriously injured.
The circumstances of the accident remain unclear. The father and his children were trapped in the van when help arrived. Firefighters had to be very careful to extricate the two children, aged two and four. The eldest was taken out of the vehicle after 1h15 of intervention, while the youngest was released after 1h30.
The three injured were taken to Antwerp University Hospital in critical condition.
