Djokovic’s visa canceled: out of the Australian Open

Last minute

Melbourne, January 14, 2022 – OutsideAustralia and give it Open: Australian Immigration Minister canceled the visa for Novak Djokovic, despite the tennis number one having won the appeal against the first cancellation of the document. It did so “for reasons of health and good order” and because “it is in the public interest”. “The Morrison government is firmly committed to protecting Australia’s borders, particularly with regard to the Covid-19 pandemic,” the statement read.

Djokovic, not vaccinated against Covid, had entered Australia in contravention of the government’s rules which only accept immunized foreigners in a pandemic.

Now it risks a three-year ban from Australia.
