Didier Lamkel Zé fined after his provocative video in the locker room

The Disciplinary Council for Professional Football has fined Kortrijk’s Cameroonian striker Didier Lamkel Zé 1,000 euros following his provocative video filmed in the locker room after the match between Kortrijk and Antwerp which he had broadcast on Instagram. The offending sequence was deemed unacceptable. The player remains under a two-day suspended suspension until November 23, 2023.

After this match of the 10th day of the championship won 2-1 by Kerels on October 2, during which he had been the victim of (racist) insults, Didier Lamkel Zé, former player of Antwerp, celebrated the victory exuberantly in the locker room. He filmed himself saying “fuck you” and raising his middle finger to “people from Antwerp”. In a text box he also wrote “Fuck Antwerp”.

Lamkel Zé was given a suspended two-game suspension on October 25 by the Disciplinary Committee of the Belgian Union. He also had the obligation to start discussions with the leaders of Antwerp and his supporters within ten working days. Otherwise, he would be given an additional game suspended sentence.

Didier Lamkel Zé, who apologized at the October 25 hearing, decided to appeal. This was examined by the Disciplinary Council, which no longer mentioned the obligation to establish a dialogue with Antwerp.
Lamkel Zé, 26, has not been in the Kortrijk nucleus for the last three games after having declared that he wanted to leave the club during the January transfer window.
