Dharmendra got a special suit tailored for the Filmfare Award. But on the night of the award, he slept after taking a sleeping pill.

Bollywood’s famous actor Sunny Deol made his debut in Hindi cinema with the film ‘Betaab’. After this, he won the hearts of the audience through many films. Especially his film ‘Ghayal’ won the hearts of the people as well as earned a lot at the box office. Not only this, the film was also awarded with many awards. The film ‘Ghayal’ was also nominated for the Filmfare Award, while preparing for which Dharmendra had even tailored a special suit for himself. However, on the night of the ceremony, the actor slept after taking a sleeping pill.

This thing related to Dharmendra was disclosed by writer and journalist Roshmila Bhattacharya in the book ‘Matini Man’. He had told about Dharmendra in his book that the actor had got a special suit tailored for the Filmfare Award Ceremony, but he was afraid that he might not get the Best Category Award.

Roshmila further told in her book that Dharmendra decided not to attend the award ceremony for fear of returning home empty handed. He sent his eldest son Sunny Deol to the ceremony and asked him to call him immediately if he had any idea that Ghayal was getting the Best Film award.

By around 9 o’clock in the night, Sunny Deol realized that his father was going to get the award. So he immediately called his father. But by then Dharmendra had slept after taking a sleeping pill. Roshmila wrote in her book that Dharmendra heard the sound of fireworks in his sleep and thought that after all, some victory was being celebrated.

However, the actor came to know the next day that he was celebrating the victory with the joy of receiving the award. On the other hand, actor Sunny Deol had to accept the award instead of Dharmendra due to not reaching the ceremony. Let us inform that ‘Ghayal’ was nominated for seven categories, which included Best Actor, Best Film, Best Director, Best Story, Best Art Director, Best Cinematographer and Best Editor.
