“Creed 3” starts in cinemas tomorrow: what’s next?

Michael B. Jordan gets back in the ring for Creed 3. What’s next without Sylvester Stallone?

Creed 3 hits theaters this week

After corona-related delays, “Creed 3” was supposed to start in cinemas on November 23, 2022, instead the sequel was released on the March 2, 2023 postponed (via Variety). This not only means that fans are facing the third big fight of Apollo Creed’s (Carl Weathers) son Adonis, but also leading actor Michael B. Jordan is making his directorial debut. He said the following in a statement (via Variety):

“Directing has always been my aspiration, but the timing had to be right. ‘Creed 3’ is that moment – a time in my life where I became conscious of who I am, recorded my own story, matured personally, grew professionally and was met by the likes of Ryan Coogler, recently Denzel Washington and other high-level directors that I respect. All of that laid the groundwork for this moment.”

Creed 3: what’s next?

After six “Rocky” parts and the two “Creed” films, Rocky (Sylvester Stallone) has found his well-deserved inner peace – but for Donnie the end is not yet in sight. Although he managed to defeat Viktor Drago (Florian Munteanu) in the second part and thus avenge his father’s death, he now needs a new goal in mind in order to stay on the (punching) ball.

“Creed III” delivers this goal in the form of an old acquaintance who turns out to be a relentless opponent. Because Creed’s old childhood friend Damian Anderson (Jonathan Majors) is looking for revenge as a result of his prison stay. Can Creed put him in his place and possibly even rekindle the friendship?

Sylvester Stallone is no longer part of “Creed 3”, but he returned in his iconic role as Rocky Balboa in the first and second parts of the spin-off series. In the video we show you which stars have also revived their old characters:

Creed 3 Cast: Who’s in?

Although we have to say goodbye to Sylvester Stallone and his role Rocky Balboa with a heavy heart, Michael B. Jordan will return as Adonis Creed. He will also be starring Tessa Thompson (“Thor: Day of Decision”) as Donnie’s girlfriend Bianca and Phylicia Rashad (“The Bill Cosby Show”) as stepmother Mary Anne. As befits the “Rocky” franchise, an opponent should of course not be missing. Actor Jonathan Majors takes on this role. His character Damian Anderson should give Adonis plenty of trouble (via Variety).

How The Hollywood Reporters Zach Baylin (“King Richard”) will co-write the script for the third part with Keenan Coogler (“Space Jam: A New Legacy”). Her work is based on the story by Creed director Ryan Coogler. In addition to “Creed 3”, a spin-off called “Drago” has now also been announced, which Sylvester Stallone is anything but happy about.
