In an interview with Variety, Austin Winsbergcreator of the musical comedy ‘Zoey and her Fantastic Playlist‘ (Zoey’s Extraordinary Playlist), commented on the possible future of the franchise after the Christmas special ‘Zoey’s Extraordinary Christmas‘ – which served as the conclusion of the original series.
The creator indicated the possibility of new films involving different commemorative dates.
“There are an infinite amount of love songs that could be used in a ‘Zoey and her Amazing Playlist’ Valentine’s Day special, and also several theme songs for a Halloween special. If someone wants to do an Arbor Day special, I can think of songs about leaves and nature.”
About the Christmas special that concluded the series, he adds: “We ended season two with a big cliffhanger, but we had a lot of stories yet to be told. Having the chance to bring closure to the fans and these characters meant a lot to me. It was a challenge because it was important to make something that a new audience could also check out. At the same time, we had several plots that needed to be continued.”
