A total of 3,462 people are still hospitalized due to Covid-19, including 669 patients treated in intensive care.
Between November 16 and 22, 16,762 new Sars-CoV-2 infections were detected on average per day, up 48% from the previous week. Since the start of the pandemic in Belgium, more than 1.7 million cases of coronavirus infection have been diagnosed.
Over the period studied, an average of 35.7 people died per day as a result of the virus (+ 16%), bringing the toll to 26,800 deaths since the start of the health crisis in Belgium.[display-posts orderby="rand"]
Almost 110,100 tests on average were also performed daily, for a positivity rate of 15.9%.
The virus’s reproduction rate is 1.12. When it is greater than 1, this indicator means that the epidemic is tending to accelerate. The incidence, which indicates the number of new cases per 100,000 inhabitants, reached 1,704 over 14 days.
