The fourth corona wave is rolling over us. All the precautionary measures that have been taken seem almost without exception to be ineffective. Herd immunity is no longer the panacea. Booster vaccinations should now fix everything. Some politicians reduce the term epidemic emergency, which is intended to make people aware of the seriousness of the situation, to a slogan. The corona pandemic has become an exchange of blows for the right words. Nobody wants to offend or literally become a bogeyman.

Ditt & Datt & Dittrich

Which celebrity has sat in the nettles again? Which political talk went wrong? Which trash TV even inspires cultural attachés? Welcome to “Ditt & Datt & Dittrich” – the lively podcast from ntv columnist Verena Maria Dittrich and her caretaker Ronny from Eichhörnchenstrasse. Every Tuesday there is a talk on current topics around the screens that explain the world to us. From reality TV to celebrity news to culture: A critical and humorous entertainment balancing act.

The crisis communication of those responsible has degenerated into a jumble of rules, appeasements and warnings. The word complete failure comes to mind. Instead of finally agreeing on a common roadmap to combat pandemic across the board, only contradicting signals are coming from Berlin and the federal states. The federal government that is still in office seems to have already adopted its mental, social and, above all, political goodbye in terms of crisis management, and the new force is not exactly noticeable for its expertise and determination. What remains are confused citizens who barely look through the 2G, 3G and 2G-plus jungle.

A catalog of rules alone is useless

The corona pandemic is far from over, even if many politicians wanted to create this impression in the summer months for reasons of election tactics. And in view of the current health situation, most of the responsible actors, who attract attention more through silence than clear action, could simply be accused of refusing to work. It is time for clear signals from politicians.

A set of rules alone cannot be the answer. Because it is of no use if it is not implemented correctly and cannot be controlled in a targeted manner. If politics and science fail in the next few weeks to convince the population, in view of the threatening scenario, to participate largely on their own, the yo-yo effect of this pandemic will be with us for a long time.

Can the booster vaccination only save us now? And how much responsibility does each one of us have? Answers to this can be found in a new episode of the ntv podcast “Ditt & Datt & Dittrich”.
