Code Quantum: a reboot series ordered!

An umpteenth series will be entitled to a second life. This time, it’s “Quantum Code” that will be rebooted. A pilot has so far been ordered by NBC.

The nostalgia for the 1990s is definitely not weakening. The proof with Code Quantum, a flagship series broadcast between 1989 and 1993 on NBC. In France, it was not until 1993 that we were able to discover it on Série Club then M6. The show featured Scott Bakula in the skin of the doctor Samuel Beckett, a scientist who, after a failed experiment, finds himself embarked on a multitude of time travels. Indeed, in each episode, he is catapulted at a different time (between the 50s and the 80s) and pass “in the shoes of one character to another, trying to repair the mistakes of the past“.

To help him in his task, he can count on Rear Admiral Al Calavicci, who appears to him in the form of a hologram and is embodied by Dean Stockwell. Together, they formed a cult television duo. NBC hopes to return to success by soon offering a reboot of Code Quantum. This is indeed what was announced Deadline, claiming that a pilot has so far been ordered.

What we know about the reboot

The new series Code Quantum take place thirty years later the events of the original show (so nowadays), and Sam still hasn’t returned. A new team will relaunch the project hoping to understand the operation of the machine that sent the scientist to the past.

For now, Scott Bakula is not announced in the casting of this sequel. However, he might be involved in the development. Regarding Dean Stockwell, the latter unfortunately died on November 7, 2021 at the age of 85. Finally, the production was entrusted to Martin Gero who had already worked with NBC on the series Blindspot. While the writing will be provided by Steven Lilien and Bryan Wynbrandt.
