Presiding over the annual summit of BRICS through digital medium, the Prime Minister said that BRICS has achieved many achievements in the last one and a half decades and today the grouping has become an effective voice for the emerging economies of the world. He called for ensuring that the group becomes more effective in the next 15 years.
In a statement issued at the end of the summit, the group called for abstention from violence and a peaceful resolution of the situation in Afghanistan. “We call for the avoidance of violence and a solution to the situation through peaceful means,” BRICS said. We stress the need to contribute to promoting an inclusive intra-Afghan dialogue to ensure stability, civil peace, law and order in the country. The group also strongly condemned the recent terrorist attacks near Kabul airport in which a large number of people were killed and many were injured.
