Branie: ‘Can Ajax withstand the infamous last half hour of Feyenoord?’

Ajax won convincingly against sc Heerenveen 2-4, but the entire top 4 of the Eredivisie managed to win. So a thrilling Classic awaits on Sunday 19 March. In Branie, the podcast of The parole and Ajax Showtimewe look back on the victory in Heerenveen, but we also look forward to the meeting with Feyenoord.

In this episode, presenter Menno Pot talks with Parool reporter Dick Sintenie and Bart Veenstra, editor-in-chief of Ajax Showtime. It is incredibly exciting at the top, Sintenie sees. ‘Don’t forget that AZ and PSV are right behind Ajax. With a loss in the Classic, Ajax is probably third. There is a lot at stake,” he says.

The competition was also very exciting in 2007, when three clubs had the same number of points on the last match day. Pot agrees, but finds one thing remarkable. “Everyone talks about the match between Ajax and Feyenoord, but with one misstep, AZ can already get over Ajax,” the presenter notes.

Sintenie takes back his words about Ajax’s game

Sintenie said last week that Ajax played boring football and that we had to get used to it for the rest of this season, but that was not the case in Heerenveen. ‘Ajax played fantastic for half an hour in Heerenveen.’ Veenstra knows what this had to do with. ‘Ajax played strongly, but sc Heerenveen wanted to play football and gave away a lot of space,’ he says. Sintenie is wary of Feyenoord’s last half hour. That is a quality of the people of Rotterdam. Feyenoord is very difficult to beat and every week has the fitness to strike in the last half hour. That’s no coincidence.’

Branie can be listened to every Monday afternoon at 12:00 this season via Spotify, itunes and our website. Listen to the new episode now!
