Bpost unveils a new stamp to celebrate the 50th birthday of Queen Mathilde

This new issue, which will delight philatelists, presents the sovereign posing all smiles in front of the winter garden, one of the royal greenhouses of Laeken. It was the Queen herself who chose this portrait, produced by Michel Gronemberger, which citizens can put on their mail.

The philately department of bpost designed this special sheet, with gold printing.

The sheet of postage stamps is available from January 20 on the bpost eShop and from January 23 in the largest post offices in the country.

This is the second time the Queen has appeared alone on a postage stamp. The first time was in 2013, to celebrate its 40th anniversary.

Gold coins worth 12.50 euros will also be issued on the occasion of Queen Mathilde’s fiftieth birthday.

The Queen will pass this course on Friday without any official event, according to her wishes.
