Marvel Studios has revealed that Yann Demange will be the new director of the film Blade, starring actor Mahershala Ali.

Filming on the project was supposed to begin in the fall, but was then postponed to September following Bassam Tariq’s departure as director.
Yann Demange recently directed Lovecraft Country and the Paris-born director is known for his thrillers such as ’71 and Cocaine – The True Story of White Boy Rick.
The new Blade reboot script is penned by Michael Starrbury (When They See Us) and filming is now expected to begin in Atlanta in early 2023, ahead of a theatrical debut scheduled for September 6, 2024.

Blade was supposed to be part of Phase 5 of the MCU and, for now, Kevin Feige has not revealed whether the project will find itself narratively at another point in the timeline of comic book projects.
Mahershala Ali made his MCU debut in one of the Eternals post-credits scenes where Blade’s voice could be heard addressing Dane Whitman, played by Kit Harington. However, the actor has not yet appeared on the screens and we will have to wait to find out if he will be involved in any scenes before the film in which he stars arrives in theaters.
