Mahershala Ali, head of the film Blade, confided in his first appearance in the MCU. The one who will lend his features to the character of Eric Brooks is joined by another actor, British this time. Delroy Lindo, known for having notably played Archie in Malcolm X by Spike Lee, joins the cast of the film centered on the vampire. The role he will play is still unknown although it is believed that he could play the role of Jamal Afari as a vampire hunter and Brooks’ mentor. He’s the man who taught Eric Brooks everything about how to hunt and kill. In the comics, Blade ends up killing Afari.
The project Blade was revealed by the MCU at Comic Con in San Diego in 2019. Blade character first appears in Tomb Of Dracula in 1973. He is half human, half vampire thanks to his mother who was bitten and killed during childbirth. In 1998, the film based on the comics was released in theaters bringing a trilogy on the character. We don’t yet know anything about the plot of this new movie and the new faces we’ll be discovering. Except Mahersala Ali of whom we are sure and whose voice we have already heard in one of the post-credits scenes in The Eternals, everything is still kept secret by Marvel Studios.
The cast is forming little by little and we can’t wait to discover the first details about the film. The project is expected to start filming at the end of summer 2022. If you’d like to see more of Delroy Lindo, he recently starred in Da 5 Bloods by Spike Lee alongside Chadwick Boseman. He also held key roles in Get Shorty or 60 seconds flat. In the meantime, we could have a new preview of the feature film Blade in the Moon Knight series on Disney + scheduled for 2022, Mahershala Ali could well make an appearance. Blade should therefore have a place in the MCU very quickly.
