Black Panther 2: Marvel Confirms Shocking Change in Namor

According to Comic Book, Marvel released a press release for Black Panther: Wakanda Forever (Black Panther 2) that was actually about the soundtrack, but ended up drawing attention for another detail.

The company subtly revealed that the sequel revolves around a culture clash between Wakanda and Talocan.

In the MCU, Talocan will be the kingdom led by Namor, taking inspiration from Aztec culture. The character will be the main antagonist of the sequel, even if his goals are not necessarily evil.

New Approach to Namor

It turns out that Talocan doesn’t exist in Marvel comics. In the source material, Namor is the prince of Atlantis.

Furthermore, there is no relationship between the character and Aztec culture. In fact, fans have long considered Namor to have Asian traits, even if that wasn’t necessarily the case.

It is speculated that Marvel is making all these changes to distance Namor from Aquaman, as the characters are somewhat similar.

What’s unusual is that while Aquaman is much more popular, Namor came before him in the comics.

Black Panther: Wakanda Forever (Black Panther 2) hits theaters on November 10.
