Maybe that’s the biggest surprise in the Marvel movie, if you think about it…
– Warning: Spoilers for “Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness” follow! –
As the fans wish, cares “Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness” currently for some surprises in the cinemas – if you can avoid all the rumours, leaks and sometimes even trailers. At the heart of this is the Illuminati, whose debut in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) is in itself reason to cheer for die-hard comic book connoisseurs.
Those responsible also managed to get a number of coups in the occupation of the Illuminati members. After eleven years in the MCU, Hayley Atwell was finally allowed to show what she can do as a superhero as Captain Carter, while Lashana Lynch had to wait a comparatively manageable three years as Captain Marvel.
The return of Patrick Stewart as Charles Xavier aka Professor X and his associated MCU debut as well as the official debut of the X-Men in the MCU had already been revealed in the first trailer. John Krasinski (“The Office”) as Reed Richards aka Mister Fantastic also caused a lot of jubilation. This is exactly the cast that a number of fans have wanted for years, and the fact that it has now become a reality raises hopes that Krasinski will play Reed Richards in the upcoming Fantastic Four movie.
But somewhere the biggest surprise should be the appearance of Anson Mount as Black Bolt be. The fact that the MCU always shakes big Hollywood stars out of the sleeve is proven to us non-stop; even the end credits scene from Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness is another good example of this. We also experienced the stars from the “X-Men” franchise recreating their roles through Evan Peters as Quicksilver in “WandaVision”; although some fans are still bitter about the breakup of this supposed sensation. Certainly not acidified, they should react to how Doctor Strange will obviously continue in the MCU:
MCU has so far covered the guise of silence about ‘Inhumans’
The fact that those responsible actually voluntarily remember the biggest MCU flop ever is another house number. After all, Anson Mount played Black Bolt already in the series “Inhumans”, whose affiliation with the MCU is now commonly forgotten. Actually, the Inhumans were supposed to make their debut in the franchise as a big movie, ultimately it became a series that IMDB comes to a devastating rating of 4.9 out of 10 possible points and Rotten Tomatoes was punished with only 11% positive reviews. Consequently, the series was canceled after just one season and the Inhumans played no role in the MCU after that – so far.
With “Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness”, the group now celebrated their surprising debut in the quasi-big, “real” MCU in the form of Black Bolt, the king of the Inhumans. Now, of course, the question arises as to whether the belated triumph of the Inhumans is imminent.
Probably not. For most, the genetically modified superheroes are only second-rate replacements for the X-Men, which the MCU can now freely dispose of. Accordingly, fans should expect to see these mutants in a big way in the franchise. Of course, the Inhumans could appear in projects from time to time, not only the multiverse makes this possible. After the debacle of the “Inhumans” series, even such an existence in the second row should probably be seen as a relative success.
