Both Jong Genk players had received a direct red card in a tumultuous end of the match on Sunday evening. Jong Genk ended up with eight players after a second yellow card for Faissal Al Mazyani.
Nigerian Victory Beniangba had pushed Standard goalkeeper Mathieu Epolo several times in a common altercation with several players and had given a headbutt after the goalkeeper had given Genk captain Tuur Rommens a strong poke twice. The Federal Public Prosecutor’s Office had demanded an amicable settlement of four effective match days and one conditional on Monday.
Argentina’s Matias Galarza was shown a red card for a bold flying tackle on the ankle of Standard player Noah Mawete after he lost control of the ball. The Federal Public Prosecutor’s Office had requested three effective match days and one conditional match day.
KRC Genk did not agree to the amicable settlements. On Tuesday, the cases were heard before the Disciplinary Committee for Professional Football. That eventually pronounced three match days effective and two conditional for Beniangba and three match days effective and one conditional for Galarza.
Faissal Al Mazyani, who picked up a second yellow card in stoppage time of the match against SL16 FC for a professional foul on the broken Ilyes Ziani, has been suspended for Sunday’s derby at Lommel SK, just like Beniangba and Galarza.
