Be careful what you do on Netflix: you could have a very bad surprise…

Like any platform, Netflix has rules to tell customers what they can and can’t do. Because even if they pay to obtain a service, that does not give them all the rights. And while the streaming giant is experiencing a more complicated period, with a significant loss of subscribers, breaches of the regulations are increasingly scrutinized.

It is therefore good to remember three small but oh so important rules, since they could get you banned from the platform.

Password sharing. Let it be said, everyone does it. Sharing your account with friends to split the monthly bill has become the norm. However, this practice has always been prohibited by Netflix. If the company more or less closed its eyes until now, the exodus of subscribers pushes it to be more severe. Now, the problem is taken seriously and users who do not have their own account risk a lot.

VPNs. Another problem for Netflix is the Virtual Private Networks (which basically allow you to make your browsing private and make it look like you’re connecting from another country). The streaming giant indeed offers a different catalog depending on the country. With a VPN, users can therefore circumvent this restriction. And that doesn’t please everyone. Will this be worth a ban from the platform? Not really. At first, people who use a VPN should get a warning message to stop using it.

Copy contents. It’s an obvious rule. It is prohibited to “archive, reproduce, distribute, modify, display, perform, publish, license, create derivative works from, offer for sale” content from the platform. Breaking this rule will get you banned.
