Actor JK Simmons, who plays Commissioner Gordon, has revealed when shooting will begin on the Batgirl movie, produced for HBO Max.

The actor also confirmed that the space given to Commissioner Gordon will be greater than what happened in the previous films based on the DC comics in which he starred.
JK Simmons, speaking on the podcast Happy Sad Confused of the Batgirl movie, explained: “I was completely blown away when they contacted me because they wanted me to play Commissioner Gordon again and that it is a much more significant role.“.
The actor recalled: “Leslie Grace plays Batgirl and I think I’ll be meeting her and the director in the next few days to do some rehearsals before arriving on set. They will start filming very soon and I will be involved starting in January in Glasgow, a wonderful place to shoot because it is a gothic city“.
Simmons further explained talking about the project: “I’ve talked a lot about how they want to portray Gordon and the script … I don’t want to give too much away, so I’m not going to talk about the story structure or any other details, but I thought it was a really cool approach to introduce Batgirl and give Jim more depth. Gordon compared to my first appearance in the role“.
The Batgirl script was written by Christina Hodson, while Kristin Burr is on the producing team, and Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah will be involved as directors.
Brendan Fraser will play the part of the supervillain called Firefly.
