On Wednesday, in Deerlijk, one person was killed in a gas explosion. Another person was seriously injured. The firefighters in the Fluvia area confirm this. It was a gas cylinder that was on a truck.
The blast happened around 9 a.m. along Vichtesteenweg near the Belgiek traffic lights. “A roofer noticed that something was wrong with a gas bottle that was in the back of his truck. He and a passenger decided to park the vehicle and take a look. The gas bottle exploded. One person died, another was seriously injured. »
“One of those gas canisters exploded. A safety perimeter of 50 meters has been set up because there are still a few gas bottles on the truck,” said Piet Beirlaen from the Fluvia fire department.
