Actor Ryan Gosling, who will play the character of Ken in Barbie, has hit back at fan criticism of his role.
One of Warner Bros’ bets. for 2023, the feature film about the Mattel doll will compete against Oppenheimer at the box office.
Gosling was on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, talking about his version of Ken in the film also starring Margot Robbie (via ScreenRant).
According to the star, those who criticized him must never have played with the doll, as he is not even one of the nicest for it.
“I was surprised how some people were kind of clutching their pearls over my Ken, as if they ever thought about him for a second before that,” he said. “They never played with Ken. Nobody plays with Ken. He’s an accessory and not one of the cool ones.”
