In the morning, the highway was already loaded with boaters who had left to enjoy the coast when the first accident occurred, which involved two cars on the left lane. The track was able to be returned relatively quickly to traffic but, in the two kilometers of queues that formed, a second accident took place. Six vehicles collided on the left lane, three of which had to be towed.
Around 11:30 a.m., the left lane was still congested and traffic was almost at a standstill.
It is therefore advisable to avoid the surroundings of Ghent.
