Art and Prehistory, the exhibition of cave paintings at the Musée de l’Homme

Cave painting enthusiasts head to the Musée de l’Homme to discover the establishment’s latest exhibition, Art and Prehistory, from October 12, 2022 to May 22, 2023.

A real journey through time! This is what the Museum of human with his last exposure, Art and Prehistoryto be discovered from October 12, 2022 to May 22, 2023. An exhibition which more specifically offers you the opportunity to discover many masterpieces of theprehistoric art from all over the world, retracing “the power of human creativity since the dawn of time“.

Frescoes of the Lascaux cave and of Chauvet, Paleolithic Venus, decorated tools, animals sculpted in ivory, rock or bone… In total, more than 90 original pieces of prehistoric art are presented to visitors, as well as hundreds of digital images of paintings and engravings, for a unique journey to the heart of time immemorial. An exhibition that also tries to show the “unsuspected diversity of art forms and expressions“.

Among the most emblematic works on offer here are the Venus of Lespuguesthe Immodest Venus of Laugerie-Basse or even the La Madeleine mammoth, from the museum’s collections.
