Arnold Schwarzenegger is ‘obsessed’ with his son’s new HBO Max series

Patrick Schwarzenegger, son of Arnold Schwarzenegger, stars in HBO Max’s The Ladder. He revealed that his father is obsessed with the series.

Patrick said he received a lot of support from his father, even though he didn’t ask for advice about this particular character.

‎”Many children go to their father for advice about anything. I definitely go to him like that, but I didn’t go to him for this specific character,” the actor said (via Insider).

‎According to the star, however, Arnold is a big fan of both the true-crime documentary, Death on the Stairs, which inspired the new drama, and Antonio Campos’ new HBO Max adaptation.‎

“He had watched the documentary, and he was obsessed with it too when he found out I was cast in the miniseries,” revealed Patrick, who is the eldest son of Arnold Schwarzenegger and journalist Maria Shriver. ‎

Dedication to the new HBO Max series

‎The actor told Insider that he watched the docuseries twice before being cast in the new adaptation, which ‎‎made him very excited to play Todd Peterson‎‎, the son of novelist Michael Peterson (Colin Firth), who ‎‎ was accused of killing his wife Kathleen in 2001‎‎.‎

The actor also praised Antonio Campos’ work on the HBO Max series.

‎”Antonio Campos was with the story for about 10 years. He was an information chest. He had so many uncut footage from the documentary to pull, and interviews to read, and he was almost a one stop information stop,” Patrick said. ‎

‎The new drama ‎‎from HBO Max‎‎ is inspired in part by the true-crime documentary series, and follows Peterson and his family as they try to come to terms with Kathleen’s death, and Peterson’s possible guilt. ‎

‎The Staircase, which also stars Toni Collette, Sophie Turner and Michael Stuhlbarg, airs on HBO Max.
