Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania will totally change the MCU

Recently, director Peyton Reed claimed that “Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania” will drastically change the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU). It must be said that the character of Scott Lang will have a lot to do against Kang the conqueror.

Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania – what we know about the film

Expected February 15, 2023, Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania is still directed by Peyton Reed. The American director is back behind the camera once again after directing the first two parts of the trilogy. In front of the camera, fans will find familiar faces from the saga, including Paul Rudd (Scott Lang aka Ant-Man), Evangeline Lilly (Hope Van Dyne aka The Wasp), Michael Douglas (Hank Pym) and Michelle Pfeiffer (Janet Van Dyne).

The film will also feature Kathryn Newton as Cassie Lang aka Stature. The latter thus succeeds the young Abby Ryder Fortson who played the character in the first two Ant Man and to Emma Fuhrmann who played the role in Avengers: Endgame. Finally, the distribution is completed by Jonathan Majors as Kang and big Bill Murray in an as yet unknown role.

A major movie for the MCU sequel

Contrary to Ant Man and Ant-Man and the Waspwhich are relatively minor films within the MCU, Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania go play a key role in the sequel to the Marvel universe. Already, this third Ant Man will officially score the beginning of phase 5 of the MCU. In a recent interview with Accessthe director Peyton Reed stopped on the role of Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania within the MCU. The filmmaker confirmed that his film would have a very important place in this phase 5 and that the feature film was going to bring significant and permanent changes to the Marvel Cinematic Universe:

The launch of phase 5 is a really exciting thing for us. This is our third Ant-Man movie. We are a trilogy now. But there are things happening in this movie that will change the Marvel Cinematic Universe for good. And it’s funny for us that Scott Lang is at the center of this change.

It must be said that Scott Lang will have a lot to do since he will have to face the terrible Kang the conqueror. This time traveler was introduced in the series Loki and should be, logically, the MCU’s new Thanos. This character will seek to modify the temporal continuum, to travel in the multiverse and in the quantum world, and to change the course of time to modify his own present (which is located in our future). He is a solid antagonist, who will then be central to both Avengers films titled Avengers: The Kang Dynasty and Avengers: Secret Wars.

But Kang isn’t going to be the only villain in Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania. Indeed, Marvel Studios has confirmed that MODOK was going to make its way into the MCU on the occasion of the Peyton Reed film. See you next February 15 to find out how Scott Lang will fare against one of the most powerful antagonists in the entire Marvel Comics Universe.
