In an interview, Daniel Craig spoke about his time in James Bond and explains why he’s glad it’s over.
With “No Time To Die” James Bond career ended last year Daniel Craig after five films. The actor has since committed himself to a new franchise. After his debut as detective Benoit Blanc in Knives Out, he returns as an investigator in the Netflix sequel Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery, which opens for a limited time in cinemas on November 23, 2022 . He has now told the Los Angeles Times explained.
He finds it a pity that he has repeatedly been reduced to his physical achievements and his creative contributions have been ignored. At the same time, he blames himself:
“It’s my fault that somehow I couldn’t stop talking about all my injuries. I’m mad at myself for ever approaching her. I put so much more work into the creative part of these films than the physical part. The physical part of the films was just a job. I had to do it. I trained, learned the fights, that’s not how my brain works, so to speak. The rest, the look, the feel, the tone of the films, getting Sam Mendes to direct Skyfall, that was the hard work. Going to the gym is hard work, but it’s not really hard brain work.”

That’s why Daniel Craig is glad he’s not James Bond anymore
Daniel Craig also explains why his James Bond in “No Time to Die” had to have a fatal end and why another conclusion was not possible for him:
“Two things, one for myself and one for the franchise. First for the franchise going back to square one like they did with me. And I said: ‘You have to start all over again.’ So let’s kill my character and find another Bond, another story. Starts at 23, 25, 30. The other reason was so I could continue. I don’t want to go back. I suppose I should be lucky if they want to get me back, but the fact is I have to put this behind me. The sacrifice he makes in the film was for love and there is no greater sacrifice. It seemed like a happy ending for it.”
The search for Daniel Craig’s successor is in full swing. A number of Hollywood stars such as Idris Elba, Tom Holland and Regé-Jean Page have long been considered favourites. It is now clear that the new bond should be more than 30 years old, so Holland, for example, would be eliminated. So it remains exciting.
