Will the universe that started with The Batman continue despite the DC plan changes? Director Matt Reeves gives you the answer to this question.
Both DC Studios a lot has happened in the past few weeks. After James Gunn and Peter Safran were named the new co-bosses, they turned the future of the DC Universe upside down. So we won’t see Henry Cavill as Superman anymore, Dwayne Johnson has also retired after just one film as Black Adam and rumor has it that Gal Gadot’s active DC membership may soon be a thing of the past as well.
But what about the so-called Batversewhich has been independent of the rest of DC events for the past year “Batman” started? Director delivers you to this question Matt Reeves now a cautious answer. Because in an interview with colliders The 56-year-old filmmaker revealed that a certain project is currently being worked on:
“I won’t answer that question, but we’re working on a film. Let’s put it that way. We’re in deep and my partner and I are writing, Mattson [Tomlin] and I write and it’s really exciting and I’m really passionate about what we’re doing.”
In conversation with Yahoo entertainment However, Matt Reeves explained that there are still a few things that need to be discussed with DC Studios:
“We’ve had a few talks. I’m supposed to meet up sometime this month [James Gunn und Peter Safran] meet. They’ve worked feverishly on what they do and I’ve worked hard with my partners on what we do – all our shows and stuff. So we’re going to sit down where we’re going to talk about everything that’s going on and how these two things are developing. I’m excited to hear what they do.”
According to Matt Reeves, the sequel to “The Batman” seems to be coming, so we’ll probably be back in the future two independently acting Batmans be seen on the big screen. But if recent history has taught us anything, it’s that plans in the DC film industry can be quickly scrapped once they’re officially confirmed. Since DC is currently making numerous changes, the anticipation of “The Batman 2” should therefore be treated with caution.
While DC is currently restructuring the entire future of superheroes, Marvel has had plans for the fifth and sixth phases of the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) for a long time. In our video you can find out which productions await us in the next few years:
The Batverse grows with these productions
Next “Batman 2” the Batverse is to be expanded with further productions. It has long been known that Oswald Cobblepot aka The Penguin (Colin Farrell) “The Penguin” will get its own spin-off series. In addition, a untitled series planned how ComicBook.com reported. This acts as a kind of replacement for the originally planned and ultimately discarded series about the Gotham City Police Department and takes us into the insane realms of Arkham Asylum – the iconic facility for mentally ill felons in Gotham City. All series are being produced for HBO Max and apart from “The Penguin”, which is due to start later this year, none of the productions have a release date yet.
If you’re looking to re-watch the Batman movies (whether starring Michael Keaton, Christian Bale, Ben Affleck or Robert Pattinson), we recommend Sky Q’s Sky Netflix Combo Pack, which gives you access for the best performances of the iconic superhero.
