A member of the famous group Pussy Riot fled Russia

Alyotchina had been arrested in February and then placed under surveillance. This is a new measure taken by the Russian authorities against a member of the group who is very critical of those in power in the Kremlin.

Maria Aljochina had previously called for a demonstration for an opponent of the imprisoned regime, Alexei Navalny. Soon after, she went on a hunger strike. In 2012, she was sentenced to two years in prison for protesting against President Vladimir Putin in a church with a so-called punk prayer.

Russian authorities have put several members of Pussy Riot on a list of alleged foreign agents in order to intimidate them and limit their influence, according to the opposition.
